The St. Jude SoCal Gala celebrated its 15th anniversary on Oct. 14, at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, Calif. Approximately 400 guests from throughout the Southern California community came together to raise $1 million to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and help ensure that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Football legend, broadcaster and St. Jude ambassador Michael Strahan was honored at the event with the St. Jude Humanitarian Award. Strahan accepted the award from ALSAC/St. Jude Chief Development Officer Sue Harpole together with gala chairs, Lee and Mickey Segal.
The black-tie event included the generous support from title sponsors, Continuum Analytics, NKSFB, Panda Express, and the Paradigm Group of Companies, among significant support from the John and Mary Tu Foundation, the Tull Family Foundation, Spinal Elements and many others.
Together, a live auction and Give to Live program raised more than $320,000. Other highlights of the evening included a special performance from Danny Seraphine of Chicago, and his band, CTA, as well as the Whitney Myer Trio.
