The Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Hospitalist Conference aims to: 

  • Describe current and emerging models of pediatric hematology–oncology hospitalist practice, including consultative, co‑management, and hospitalist‑led approaches that incorporate acute and continuity‑focused care.
  • Identify the strengths, limitations, and operational challenges associated with hospitalist involvement in the care of hospitalized and acutely ill pediatric hematology–oncology patients.
  • Analyze strategies for effective collaboration and role delineation between pediatric hospitalists, hematology–oncology subspecialists, advanced practice providers, nursing, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Apply best practices in clinical management, communication, and care coordination to improve patient safety, family experience, and provider well‑being in pediatric hematology–oncology hospital settings.
  • Discuss approaches to sustaining workforce resilience, mitigating burnout, and supporting professional development for hospitalists caring for pediatric hematology–oncology populations.
  • Evaluate opportunities for quality improvement, education, and scholarship within pediatric hematology–oncology hospitalist programs.
  • Recognize pediatric hematology–oncology hospitalist medicine as a viable and evolving career pathway for fellows and early‑career physicians, including potential roles, skill sets, and professional growth trajectories.
  • Engage in networking and knowledge‑sharing to foster a collaborative community of practice aimed at advancing hospital‑based family-centered pediatric hematology–oncology care.
