An Unparalleled Patient Population
St. Jude offers an extraordinary opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of young patients while building your expertise and advancing your career goals.
Our mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. With an average of more than 67,000 patient visits each year, our clinicians and researchers see a high volume of some of the rarest conditions.
St. Jude offers comprehensive care and support for patients and their families. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay.
An Extraordinary Culture
As a clinical trainee at St. Jude, you will enjoy a superb environment in an institution that regularly ranks in FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For.” St. Jude has also earned numerous other top workplace awards, including ranking in The Scientist’s Top 10 “Best Places to Work in Academia” for the last seven years the survey was conducted.
From regular opportunities for multidisciplinary exchange to the design of our buildings and policies, we pride ourselves on fostering a friendly, collaborative culture. Clinicians, researchers, staff, patients and their families are all valued partners in advancing the St. Jude mission.
A clinical training experience at St. Jude gives you the chance to learn from mentors who are at the top of their fields. The more than 200 members of our faculty work in a broad range of fields spanning clinical care to basic and translational research and include a Nobel laureate, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigators, and members of the Institute of Medicine and National Academy of Sciences.
St. Jude investigators develop more clinical trials for cancer than any other children's hospital in the U.S. and generate hundreds of published research papers each year. Our clinicians have deep expertise in providing extremely specialized medical care and are dedicated to fostering the next generation of medical professionals and physician-scientists.
Superb Resources and Facilities
The beautifully landscaped St. Jude campus has more than a dozen buildings for patient care, research, and education, and is continually expanding. As well as state-of-the-art patient care facilities and medical technology, the campus is home to exceptional shared resources for clinical and basic researchers; a biomedical library with access to more than 4,700 journals; a Global Education & Collaboration Center; and a current Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facility to support the development of new treatment options for patients.
A Global Expertise Network
To give our trainees a well-rounded academic and clinical training experience, several of our programs are administered by or in partnership with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. In addition, trainees benefit from our affiliations with other U.S. hospitals and from interactions with medical professionals from around the globe.
Your clinical training is a fundamental and exciting time in your career. At St. Jude, we are dedicated to nurturing and training early career clinicians like you.
