Benefits Unique to St. Jude

Kay Kafe Cafeteria, Inspiration4 ARC Bistro and On-site Starbucks

Thanks to Sterling Jeweler’s generous gift of $16 million for the facility, Kay Kafe is the new heart of the hospital, serving patients, physicians and scientists, and hospital staff together under one roof. Our cafeteria is perhaps our most powerful common ground where all employees, from lab researchers to physicians to environmental service workers, come together with patients and families every day, three times a day! There is no “doctors dining room” or “employees only” section of our cafeteria, so our employees sit at tables next to patients, families, visitors and donors. This is a constant reminder and motivator of why we are all here together.

Danny and Rose Marie Thomas Memorial Garden

In the award-winning Danny and Rose Marie Thomas Memorial Garden, two cascading waterfalls take your mind away from the noise of downtown traffic. The garden contains more than 60 trees, including dogwoods, white pines, blue cypress, elms, red oaks and crepe myrtles, which also serve as a buffer from noise and the city environment. Shrubs and greenery, such as carrisa hollies, blue rug junipers and azaleas, and seasonal flowers add to the garden’s beauty. St. Jude employees, families  and visitors alike enjoy this quiet, contemplative setting as a haven from their day-to-day activities. Learn more about the Danny and Rose Marie Thomas Memorial Garden.

St. Jude Farmers Market/St. Jude Garden

Employees, patient families and visitors can purchase hand-picked fruit and produce provided by local suppliers at the biweekly market on St. Jude’s campus from May through October. The success of the market led employees to create the on-campus St. Jude Garden. Produce from the garden is regularly featured in St. Jude’s cafeteria.
