The Clinical Observer in Clinical Settings program is a shadowing experience offered by St. Jude Nursing Services. The program is designed to help undergraduates and other qualified individuals explore their interest in a nursing career.
Participants join St. Jude nursing staff during their clinical duties, observing the unique St. Jude approach to patient care firsthand. Nursing staff members share insights into nursing careers, including the diverse opportunities offered by St. Jude.
Eligibility
Candidates must:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Meet one of the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in high school or an accredited academic institution at the college level
- Accepted into an academic institution
- Demonstrate the clear intention to apply for a post-baccalaureate program
- Be a currently practicing nurse with a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career at St. Jude
- Be in good academic standing and have endorsement for the program by an appropriate academic representative or an alternate letter of recommendation (for non-student candidates)
- Provide current resume (currently practicing nurses)
- Be able to travel to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN
- Provide their own housing during the observation period

Applications must be filled out completely to be considered for the program.
After application
St. Jude will contact accepted candidates to arrange observation experience times. The program will provide more information to help candidates make the most of their time at St. Jude while abiding by hospital policies and procedures.
