The St. Jude Evening Under the Stars Party and Golf Classic, a long-time Dallas fundraiser for St. Jude, reached a major milestone this year, raising more than $1 million for the first time in its history.

St. Jude Evening Under the Stars consists of two separate events: the St. Jude Golf Classic, held October 20 at the Stonebriar Country Club, and the St. Jude Evening Under the Stars Party, held October 25 at the Omni Dallas Hotel.

This was the 19th year for the golf tournament and the 13th year for the party. The combined events have now raised more than $10 million for St. Jude. About 250 golfers participated in the Monday scramble, and more than 900 attended the Saturday night party.

Cindy Feld, who served as event co-chair with her husband Charlie, said they are thrilled to have surpassed $1 million in total funds raised. “We are beyond excited and grateful to the Dallas community for their generous support in helping us raise more than $1 million for the kids of St. Jude,” she said. “Thank you to our wonderful sponsors, donors, committee members and volunteers who made these events possible. Because of them, the doctors and researchers at St. Jude can continue their lifesaving work of finding cures and saving children.”

Other individuals responsible for making the event a Texas-sized success include: Margo and Jim Keyes, party co-chairs; Holly and Doug Brooks, live auction co-chairs; Pennie Marshall and Aprille Andrews, silent auction co-chairs; and Marsha and Kevin Carroll, underwriting co-chairs.

The party’s live auction raised more than $149,000. One item — a dinner party for 10 at the home of Chef Kent Rathbun — sold four times, at $15,000 each, for a total of $60,000. The silent auction brought in $92,000. In addition to the live and silent auctions, party-goers enjoyed a cocktail hour, seated dinner, patient presentation and dancing to party band Duck Soup.

For the younger set who wanted to keep the party going, event organizers held the St. Jude Evening Under the Stars After Party. The third annual after party was held at the Omni, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., and raised $30,000.

The event was presented by T-Mobile, Operated by Amtel LLC., Chili’s Grill and Bar, Diane and Mike Gruber were title sponsors, and Jani-King International Inc. was the printing sponsor.
