The best New Year’s resolutions? They’re the meaningful ones that also help others.
Choose from our ideas below for the top charitable New Year’s resolutions, and see how you can create the best version of you in 2023, all while helping kids with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
1. Take your interest to the next level

If you’re the do-it-yourself-type, create a fundraiser for a nonprofit that takes what you love and turns it into something even more meaningful.
Baking, martial arts, equestrian sports, cars, a virtual game night with friends — whatever your passion is, you can use it to raise money for St. Jude kids. Best of all, St. Jude will guide you every step of the way. Find out how to use your hobby for a good cause.

2. Participate in an organized run

Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey or working up to your first full marathon, St. Jude has many virtual running events to choose from for your fitness resolution. (We may have in-person events later in the year!) You can also join the official St. Jude Run Club on Strava.
Challenge yourself to participate, and fundraise for St. Jude kids along the way as a St. Jude Hero. You may even earn St. Jude gear, depending on your event and how much you raise. Learn more about our running events.
3. Watch and share a charity livestream

Many in-person events have had to be canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But you can still participate in fun, virtual events that help raise funds for St. Jude.
Tune in, share with your friends, and help raise awareness and donations for St. Jude by watching one of our livestreams. You can watch archived livestreams, too! Explore our livestream events.
4. Be more responsible with social media

Some of us have the willpower to walk away, while others can’t imagine our lives without our social media feeds. But no matter where you stand, it’s hard to deny the power of enlisting the help of your entire network for a good cause.
Consider dedicating your birthday to St. Jude on Facebook this year. It’s as easy as logging in to Facebook and choosing St. Jude as your charity, or you can learn more, if you're not sure how.
5. Give back by volunteering

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital may be located in Memphis, Tennessee, but the work and fundraising of St. Jude is worldwide — you can volunteer your time and talents from almost anywhere.
It can be one time, or it can be an ongoing commitment, whatever works best for you and your goals to give back. Check out virtual volunteer opportunities, too! Find volunteer opportunities near you.
