What is a monetary donation?

Monetary donations are one of the most straightforward ways to donate to charitable organizations like St. Jude. Sometimes referred to as cash contributions or cash donations, monetary donations refer to the act of giving financial resources to a nonprofit organization or group. These can include any contributions made via:

What is not cash contribution?

In-kind gifts — donations of time, physical goods or services — are not considered monetary donations. This means that volunteer hours or the donation of physical items, like supplies, vehicles or toys, do not qualify as monetary donations.

Do you need proof of charitable monetary donations?

To receive a tax deduction for cash donations, the IRS requires a record of the contribution. We provide an annual donation statement for all tax-deductible donations made to St. Jude. If you need a copy, call (800) 822-6344 or request a copy of your annual donation statement for tax deduction purposes online.
