The National Cartoonists Society was formed in 1946 when a small group of professional cartoonists banded together to entertain US troops. Now comprising over 500 members, the NCS continues to foster social, cultural and intellectual exchange among cartoonists, students and the general public.

In 2021, to celebrate their 75th anniversary, the NCS will auction more than 150 works of art to benefit St. Jude, including illustrations of Dennis the Menace, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Dumbo and other beloved works of art.

Cartoonist and president of the NCS Foundation Steve McGarry, known for his work as story artist for Despicable Me 2, Minions and The Secret Life of Pets, said, “We would like to be part of the St. Jude family nationwide. As St. Jude volunteers start to put their events together, be aware that there are cartoonists in the area who want to roll up their sleeves and join in.”
