About David Ellison

Dr. David Ellison is Chair of the Department of Pathology and the Joan and Roy Gignac Endowed Chair in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Ellison qualified in medicine from the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and received his PhD from the University of Southampton, where he trained in neuropathology and developed an interest in pediatric brain tumors. As a clinical researcher at Newcastle University, he was the first to show a good prognosis for WNT-activated medulloblastoma. Recently, Dr. Ellison’s lab has focused on the biology of childhood ependymoma, being the first to identify the crucial role of EZHIP in posterior fossa group A tumors. Dr. Ellison is a senior editor for the WHO classification of central nervous system tumors.
