Dr. Alejandro Gutierrez is a pediatric oncologist and cancer biologist whose research program strives to advance effective therapies for children with catastrophic disease by understanding the molecular basis of chemotherapy resistance. With clinical training in pediatrics and pediatric hematology/oncology and postdoctoral work in molecular leukemogenesis, Dr. Gutierrez’s expertise helps guide research in chemotherapy resistance that has broad relevance across disease types. Beyond his clinical and laboratory work, Dr. Gutierrez is committed to mentoring the next generation of scientific and clinical leaders and holds several appointments to professional societies, such as the American Association for Cancer Research.
