Dr. Giedre Krenciute received her PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from Baylor College of Medicine where she also completed postdoctoral training in cell and gene therapy under the mentorship of Dr. Stephen Gottschalk. As an associate faculty member at St. Jude, she leads a research program to develop CAR-modified T cells as a safe and effective therapeutic option for children with brain tumors. To achieve this goal, she now serves as a co-PI on Loc3CAR, a clinical trial in which her lab participates in correlative and reverse translation studies. Beyond providing unique translational opportunities for her lab members, Dr. Krenciute demonstrates remarkable commitment to mentoring and developing the potential of her trainees and junior scientists by fostering a team-science environment where team members can learn, grow and support each other. She also recently received the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) Collaboration Award, recognizing her collaborative efforts to advance immunotherapeutic approaches.
