Dr. Charles Rock has led a laboratory studying lipid metabolism and infectious diseases for decades. After receiving his PhD in biochemistry from the University of Tennessee at Oak Ridge, Rock joined St. Jude and is now a member of the St. Jude Faculty in the Department of Infectious Diseases. Over the past 35 years, his research has focused on lipid metabolism in bacteria, a focus which he continues in his work at St. Jude. Rock is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in recognition of his work and contribution to our understanding of bacteria and antibacterial drug discovery.
