About Steven Varga, PhD

Dr. Steven Varga serves as a Member of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Dean of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at St. Jude. His expertise in infectious disease research, specifically on the RSV virus, allows him to lead a novel and expansive research program at St. Jude. He received his PhD in Immunology from the UMass Chan Medical School in Massachusetts and completed his postdoctoral training at the University of Virginia. In previous positions, Dr. Varga held leadership roles including Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Graduate Student Development at the University of Iowa. He brings the same research and mentorship approach to St. Jude to simultaneously advance how we can educate the next generation of scientists and prevent and treat pediatric viral infectious diseases.
