The library maintains a bound collection of St. Jude annual reports and research articles published since the hospital began in 1962.
Dr. L.W. Diggs Collection
The Biomedical Library also houses the work entitled Sickle Cell Disease: Photographs and Photomicrographs from 60 Years of Study (1932-1993) and a collection of personal books and papers from Dr. Lemuel W. Diggs who collected information on the manifestations of sickle cell disease in every organ of the human body. Even before St. Jude opened its doors in 1962, it funded research conducted by Dr. Diggs at the University of Tennessee in the late 1950’s. Today, St. Jude’s Dr. Winfred Wang continues Dr. Diggs work treating more than 700 children with sickle cell disease in hopes of finding a cure.
