The Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting Shared Resource provides St. Jude investigators with access to state-of-the-art equipment and expertise in all aspects of flow cytometry and cell sorting for the analysis and separation of cell populations stained with fluorescent compounds. The facility is available to all investigators on a first-come, first-served basis.
The facility's instrumentation includes eleven BD Biosciences flow cytometers, including seven benchtop flow cytometer analyzers, five high-speed FACS Aria cell sorters, and one Miltenyi Biotec AutoMACS-Pro magnetic cell separator. Experienced personnel operate all of the instruments; investigators may obtain access to run any of four flow cytometry analyzers on an individual basis. Three experienced senior technologists are available to perform sample preparation and staining when required, and we provide a wide variety of monoclonal antibody reagents and fluorescent dyes for cell labeling.
The facility is equipped with computer workstations that can be used by investigators for detailed analysis of flow cytometry data. The facility's director and assistant director are available for consultation on experimental design, and interpretation of data and flow cytometry results.
