Maizy's story
Maizy, at 5 years old, has no fear of doctors. In fact, one of her favorite things is pretending to be one: specifically, her St. Jude doctor, who treated her for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Maizy was diagnosed with this form of blood cancer in December 2023 after her parents noticed swollen lymph nodes in her neck. She was quickly referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, where she began a chemotherapy treatment plan.
She was able to receive some of her care close to home at the St. Jude Clinic in Huntsville, Alabama.

When we got to St. Jude, it felt like they were picking up the pieces for us. They were showing us that there was a way to hope despite what we were going through.

The path wasn’t easy, but Maizy remained resilient. “She’s been our rock going through this,” Stefanie said. “She has showed us what true strength is.”
Maizy is also outgoing, smart and a loving big sister. And her favorite stuffed animal, called Pink Bunny, goes with her everywhere.

Where is Maizy now?
In July 2026, Maizy rang the bell to celebrate the end of all treatment. She marked the milestone with a big party surrounded by family and friends, followed by a trip to Nashville to see her first live concert at the Grand Ole Opry.
