St Jude patient Phenix
Phenix's story
Phenix’s radiant smile and boundless energy, coupled with rare tears, charms his parents, grandparents, older brothers and sisters and most strangers he meets.
“He steals every single heart he comes across,” his mom, Amber, said.
His smile has continued to shine brightly on most days, even after being diagnosed with a brain tumor at just 5 months old in September of 2024.
Phenix underwent brain surgery to remove some of the tumor and was later referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
At St. Jude, Phenix began chemotherapy as well as physical and occupational therapy sessions.

When we got to St. Jude, there were more answers here. It was a lot to go through as far as him being a baby, but it was still a lot less complicated than what it could have been. They take care of you, and they make sure it’s as easy as possible for you.

Where is Phenix now?
Phenix finished chemotherapy treatment in March of 2025 and returned home in time to celebrate his first birthday.
“St. Jude means a chance at life for my son, a much longer time with my son,” Amber said. “His birthday is a celebration of life.”
Phenix loves to play with his toys and to explore the world around him on his walker. He returns to St. Jude for regular checkups.
