St. Jude Dick Hiley Bass Tournament

In an effort to better prepare all anglers for the possibility of rescheduling and provide full transparency, the Dick Hiley St. Jude Bass Classic Executive Planning Committee has put a plan into place to ensure that, to the best of our ability and the cooperation of Mother Nature, tournament weekend will go on as scheduled. In the event that a reschedule is necessary, we have secured a backup date. Please see the information below, as it relates to the details of tournament weekend.


Tournament contingency plan

Plan A: Tournament will be executed on the originally scheduled weekend, May 1st – May 3rd, 2020.

Plan B: Tournament will be executed the following weekend, May 8th – May, 10th, 2020.

For both the originally scheduled date as well as the backup date, if the Wabasha water level is below 13 feet and dropping, we will plan to have the weigh in in the gravel parking lot, near the ball diamond.

If the Wabasha water level is below 13 feet and on the rise, we will plan to have the weigh in at either Ike’s Park or Beach Park, whichever location is a better fit.

A tournament decision will be made by 12:00pm the Friday before the tournament (either Friday, April 24th or Friday, May 1st)   

The planning committee and tournament director, along with the St. Jude team will make all final decisions

All official tournament decisions will be communicated via email and the Dick Hiley St. Jude Bass Classic Facebook Page.

Every effort will be made to ensure the tournament is held the first weekend in May. Pending water levels and river access, if we can effectively and safely launch all boats, we will move forward with the tournament on its originally scheduled date.


Fundraising details

In order to best serve all anglers, both returning from 2019 and new from 2020 and to keep the payout process as seamless, simple and efficient as possible, the Dick Hiley St. Jude Bass Classic Planning Committee has made the following decision as it relates to registration and fundraising for the 2020 Dick HIley St. Jude Bass Classic. Please see the detailed information below.

The Dick Hiley St. Jude Bass Classic will open registration to all teams wanting to participate in 2020. All teams will have the opportunity to qualify for the $40,000 First Place Payout. In order to qualify for the $40,000, teams will have to meet the fundraising minimum of $10,000.

If you were a team that was registered for the 2019 Tournament, you will:

  • Have early access to registration – registration window for early access will open on Monday, November 18, 2019 and remain open until Sunday, January 19, 2020. Beginning on Monday, January 20, 2020, registration will open to the public.
  • Pay $350 entry fee
  • Have your fundraising total from 2019 combined with your 2020 fundraising total for a grand total. This combined total will determine Day One Launch.

In order to qualify for the tournament, you need to raise $1,000 ($500/year)

In order to qualify for the multiplier, you need to raise $3,000 ($1,500/year)

For example, if you raised $4,500 in 2019, to qualify for the $40,000, you will need to raise $5,500.

For new teams in 2020:

  • Pay $700 entry fee
  • Registration will open on Monday, January 20, 2020

If you registered in 2019 but had your entry fee refunded, you will be asked to pay the $700 entry fee.

Tournament Boat Count will be capped at 100 boats. Once registrations is open to new teams, it will be filled on a first come, entry fee paid basis.

Please note that only the 2020 fundraising totals will be reflected on the online fundraising page. St. Jude can provide you with your 2019 fundraising total if needed.
