Why Facebook fundraisers work

Creating a Facebook fundraiser is an easy way to raise money for causes like St. Jude. Setting up a fundraiser is easy, and Facebook's large user base means your campaign has the potential to reach a wide audience. You can quickly share your fundraiser with your network, who can then donate and share with their network and so on.

There's also an added layer of trust and visibility with Facebook fundraising as donors can see the person who is organizing the campaign and view updates in real time.

How to start a fundraiser on Facebook

You can start a Facebook fundraiser at any time and for any reason. For example, you might consider starting a birthday fundraiser or a campaign to honor someone special. All fundraisers in support St. Jude help us continue our lifesaving mission: Finding cures. Saving children.®

Follow these 4 steps to start a Facebook fundraiser:

1. Log into Facebook

To create a fundraiser on Facebook, visit facebook.com/fund/stjude, or, if already logged into Facebook, locate Fundraisers through the menu.

Select Raise money for a nonprofit and select non profit screenshot

2. Search for a nonprofit

Click "Select nonprofit," and search for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Let's start with the basics. Fill in fundraiser details.

3. Make it your own

Add a title for your fundraiser.

Then, fill in basic information to let your friends and family know why you're raising funds for St. Jude. For inspiration, consider reviewing our Facebook fundraising messaging ideas.

Finally, add a cover photo. Be sure to preview the details of your fundraiser, and make sure all information is correct before publishing. You always have the option to edit later, too, if you need to.

Share your fundraiser

4. Share your fundraiser

This is where you and your network come together to meet your fundraising goals. After your campaign has been established, be sure to:

  • Invite Facebook friends
  • Share on your newsfeed and in group Facebook pages
  • Share a link to your fundraiser page on other social media channels

Why support St. Jude?

Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.

When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was largely considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate in the U.S. from 20% to more than 80%, and we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.

Every child deserves a chance to live their best life and celebrate every moment. When you support St. Jude, you can help make cures possible for kids with cancer. Together, we can save more lives.
