Child Life Play Room
Volunteer Opportunities

Child Life volunteers help with play and recreational
activities in a comfortable environment.

Child Life volunteers help with recreational activities and play opportunities in group and one-on-one situations by providing a comfortable, accepting and non-threatening environment under the direction of a Child Life Specialist.

These volunteers also help the specialists keep toys clean, stock and organize shelves, and prepare for activities and events.

Requirements

Shifts are available in inpatient settings.

Child Life volunteers are needed for three to four hours per shift each week at a regularly scheduled time between 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. All child life volunteers must enjoy children and be sensitive to their needs. Volunteers must be physically able to pick up a child in an emergency situation.

There is nothing more humbling than walking into St. Jude and seeing the smiling faces of these children. My appreciation for the small blessings in my life has immensely increased after having spent time at the hospital.
