The division of neurosurgery at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is recognized nationally and internationally for their role in the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital brain tumor program, which is a recognized center of excellence. The members of the division are active participant in the Children's Oncology Group and are recognized as some of the leading pediatric neurosurgery oncologists within the United States. The division supports 1 fellow per year and more than 120 brain tumor procedures are performed by the fellow during his/her fellowship. The majority of the neurosurgical procedures are carried out at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in which there is an intra-operative MRI suite that has been supported by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The opening of a proton beam facility, which is part of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital future expansion, will further facilitate the care of children with central nervous system malignancies.
