Operating at the interface of biology and technology to ask and answer the most challenging immunological questions
St. Jude’s Immunoinformatics Core operates at the interface between biology and technology. Leveraging cutting edge technology, these scientists and informaticians not only develop new ways to analyze biological data, but develop the techniques needed to uncover answers to the most challenging experimental questions. Under the direction of Dr. Jeremy Chase Crawford, the center collaborates with departments across the institution, providing diverse expertise in immunology and virology techniques, and often stimulating new biological questions.
Immunology has long been a single-cell field, and as such, single cell transcriptomics and spatial transcriptomics were natural horizons for the center. Dr. Crawford and his team have pioneered the optimization of commercial products for single cell approaches and secured the equipment and funding to ensure St. Jude continues to develop as a leader in immunoinformatics. While the core manages the clinical trial sample handling and analysis needs of the Center for Immunology and Immunotherapeutics, it also partners with investigators in the Departments of Hematology, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, and Pathology, among others.
