I3 focus
Intelligent Imaging Informatics (I3) harnesses the power of imaging informatics and artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate research, clinical care, and translational efforts in pediatric radiology, advancing the St. Jude Mission. We aim to lead the world in curing pediatric cancer and catastrophic diseases through the transformative power of data, informatics, and AI.
What do we do?
Intelligent Imaging Informatics (I3) is the Department of Radiology’s hub for medical AI and informatics. Our interdisciplinary team works across the spectrum—from code to clinic—to create smarter, more precise technologies. By transforming data into actionable insights, we ensure that innovations in informatics and AI directly improve outcomes for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

The CI2 team manages and innovates the core informatics systems for medical imaging, which enables precision diagnostics, advanced AI research and exceptional patient care.
What do we do?
As the operational backbone of the Department of Radiology's imaging systems, CI2 ensures a seamless and secure flow of information across clinical and research workflows. We manage the entire Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) ecosystem, including the integration of external images from patients who come to St. Jude from around the world. Our team, composed of PACS administrators, a radiology coder and the image library team, oversees essential applications and collaborates with clinical and research partners to resolve workflow challenges and support innovation.

Tumor metrics is committed to quality control, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance, delivering high-quality imaging analysis for both clinical and research purposes. Through close collaboration with oncologists, radiologists, and research teams, the Tumor Metrics division enhances diagnostic precision and advances cancer, cardiovascular, and functional imaging research. This ultimately contributes to improved patient outcomes and a deeper understanding of disease biology.
What do we do?
The Tumor metrics team provides a curated service by processing advanced imaging (perfusion, diffusion, spectroscopy and cardiac imaging) on clinical and research pediatric tumors. These volume segmentations produced from this team are used to extract information from the parametric maps created from processing the referenced sequences that can be used to inform tumor-specific metrics and informatics.
