About Salvador Almagro-Moreno

Dr. Almagro-Moreno received his PhD from the National University of Ireland and completed his postdoctoral training at Dartmouth College as the Endowed Ernest Everett Just Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Almagro-Moreno was an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Central Florida before coming to St. Jude. 

As an Associate Member of the Department of Host-Microbe Interactions, Dr. Almagro-Moreno leads a laboratory dedicated to understanding the molecular and environmental factors driving pathogen emergence. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the Research Corporation for Science Advancement Scialog Fellowship on Mitigating Zoonotic Threats and was named in 2022 a Burroughs Wellcome Fund Investigator in the Pathogenesis of Infectious Disease.
