The Diagnostic Biomarkers Shared Resource (DBSR) conducts research studies related to diagnostic biomarkers within the context of prospective therapeutic trials. The DBSR provides expert advice, technological and experimental support for conducting molecular assays of drug targets and drug activity within prospective clinical trials, to facilitate the research of Cancer Center members and other St. Jude investigators. This support extends throughout the entire research process, from planning the initial study design to implementation and interpretation of results. Methodologies include detection and quantification of molecular drug targets by real-time reverse transcriptase PCR in DNA and RNA, and protein analysis by Western blot, immunohistochemistry and multiplex immunoassay. Applications for new project proposals are received through the St. Jude intranet, via the Pathology Study Request Portal.
