Legal Operations Internship

Are you interested in gaining hands-on experience in legal operations while supporting a mission that matters? The Office of Legal Services at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital invites motivated students to apply for the legal operations internship. Internships are offered during the spring, summer, and fall semesters.

As a legal operations intern at St. Jude, you will be immersed in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment where interns work closely with the legal operations team, in-house counsel, St. Jude staff, and outside counsel on meaningful, substantive projects. Interns play an active role in supporting initiatives that enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and strategic impact of the Office of Legal Services.

Legal Operations interns primarily support the legal operations team through activities such as conducting research, analyzing data, developing and implementing process improvements, collaborating with cross-functional partners, and assisting with projects that align legal services with broader organizational goals.

Mentorship & Learning Experience

Mentorship is a cornerstone of this internship program. Interns receive guidance and context for each assignment, along with meaningful opportunities for follow-through and client interaction. Interns are routinely included in meetings across the department to enhance learning and professional development.

Eligibility

Currently enrolled junior and senior undergraduate students, graduate students, and law school students are encouraged to apply.

Successful applicants will demonstrate:

  • Strong academic performance and/or relevant experience
  • Fluency in English
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, initiative, and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning
  • A positive, professional attitude, including dependability and timeliness
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • A foundational understanding of legal concepts and terminology

Applicants with any family relationship to an employee of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, any of its subsidiaries, or any member of the St. Jude Board of Governors must disclose this information in their cover letter.
