Lizzie's story

Lizzie was diagnosed with hypothalamic/optic pathway pilocytic astrocytoma, a slow-growing brain tumor. She received nearly three years of treatment at a Texas hospital and, in 2021, was referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, after her tumor grew back.

At St. Jude, doctors tried multiple treatments until one worked. Lizzie completed her treatment in October of 2023.

Lizzie is now swimming and joining her older siblings in cross-country races.

Our cross-country coach is very sweet and loves to involve the little kids. So, in races where elementary kids are allowed, he invites siblings to run.

For Lizzie, moments like those are part of the fun. She embraces life with joy and energy even when she was receiving treatment for a brain tumor starting as a toddler.

Lizzie is back home in Texas, where she enjoys crafts, her American Girl dolls and traveling.

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

It’s always so fun to see positive progression and the miracles St. Jude has provided.
