I was born and raised in the Upstate of South Carolina, where I grew up traveling across the Southeast playing competitive tennis. I went on to play college tennis at Washington and Lee University, where I studied Religion and first discovered a deep appreciation for the humanities and their connection to health. After college, I spent two years at Duke University managing an NIH-funded Health Humanities Lab. There, I worked on innovative, interdisciplinary projects that explored how histories, literatures, languages, cultures, arts, media, and critical theory can shape our understanding of health locally and globally. I returned home to attend the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville, where I deepened my interest in the intersection of humanities and global pediatric oncology. This passion led me to Houston, Texas for my pediatrics residency at Baylor College of Medicine at Texas Children's Hospital, where I continued working in global oncology and researching health systems around the world. I was drawn to St. Jude for fellowship because of its exceptional global reach and its deep commitment to holistic care for patients and families. I'm absolutely thrilled to be part of the St. Jude community! Outside of medicine, I have continued to play tennis and I've found a love for running. So far I've completed two marathons and a 200-mile relay race across Texas with the Night Heron Running Club.
