Join us for the St. Jude Houston Gala on Saturday, April 22, 2023 as we gather to support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital: Finding cures. Saving children.®
Celebrate the power of St. Jude within the Houston community. This charity gala features an evening of dinner and cocktails, live and silent auctions with one-of-a-kind experiences, live entertainment and inspiring stories of St. Jude patients and their families.
The impact of St. Jude reaches all corners of the globe. With your support, St. Jude continues its effort to end childhood cancer. Everywhere. Help us continue St. Jude founder Danny Thomas’ dream: “No child should die in the dawn of life.”
Our Mission Moment: Emmanuel
When native Texan Emmanuel was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a cancer of the eye, at just four years old, he was referred to St. Jude. There, his family learned that to contain the cancer, his left eye would need to be removed.
That has never stopped Emmanuel. Persistence, drive, determination and strength – that has led Emmanuel to where he is today.

At age 4, Emmanuel faced a battle that so many never want to face – a cancer diagnosis. Even during treatment and recovery, his upbeat spirit and can-do optimism shined bright for his family and those around him.
Those same attributes radiate from Emmanuel today as he begins his collegiate career and furthers his athletic career on the football field and on the track.
Before Emmanuel left for college, his mother, Regina, penned a letter to her son.
She sat right by Emmanuel's side during the most difficult journey of his life. Now, she transitions into his biggest supporter as he begins a new journey away from home.
-
One red wagon
Wagons are the preferred mode of travel through the halls of the hospital and around campus for our younger patients.
-
One red blood cell transfusion
Children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening diseases often need transfusions.
-
One hour of physical therapy
Physical therapy is provided to patients because children with life-threatening diseases like cancer may develop developmental, cognitive or physical impairments as a result of their illnesses and their treatments.
-
Parent necessities for 20 patient families
Parents who bring their children to St. Jude often leave home in a hurry and forget to pack day-to-day necessities such as shampoos, razors, deodorant, toothbrushes and lotion. At Tri Delta Place, our short-term housing facility, parents can obtain these essentials free of charge.
-
An ultrasound study for a St. Jude patient
An ultrasound study is among the diagnostic imaging tests that doctors use to diagnose and monitor disease and treatment.
-
Daily room rate of the ICU
The Intensive Care Unit at St. Jude has twice been recognized with the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence given by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. In 2009, the St. Jude ICU became Tennessee’s first ICU to win the honor.
