Elimination of HPV Cancers Starting with Cervical Cancer as a Public Health Concern
The HPV Vaccination Roundtable of the Southeast is leading efforts to eliminate HPV cancers, starting with cervical cancer. A regional implementation team has developed the elimination plan to unite partners, drive action, and set clear priorities to achieve this goal.
With great excitement and anticipation about the possibilities of elimination, the Southeast Roundtable has launched the Southeast U.S. Call to Action: Elimination of HPV Cancers Starting with Cervical Cancer as a Public Health Concern. This plan brings together experts, advocates, and communities to accelerate prevention, improve care, and move toward eliminating HPV cancers.
Eliminating HPV cancers in the Southeast requires prevention through vaccination, expanded screening, and timely treatment. This Call to Action—based on the 2024 Southeast Needs Assessment—outlines current efforts, key priorities, and practical guidance for partners.
Use it alongside the toolkit to support your HPV cancer elimination planning efforts.

The Elimination Fact Sheet provides background information on the elimination of HPV cancers, including how the World Health Organization (WHO) defines elimination, current cervical cancer elimination efforts in the United States, current statistics related to elimination, and additional resources.
To inform the development of the Southeast U.S. Call to Action, the elimination (policy) implementation team conducted an informal needs assessment to explore and better understand the landscape and context of elimination planning in the Southeast. Understanding current and anticipated elimination policy activities will help identify existing gaps and areas of opportunity.
We look forward to sharing this document with you in the coming week.
