About this study
Medulloblastoma survivors can have problems with memory, attention, and learning after cancer treatment. These problems can make school and daily life harder. This study looks at a new way to improve memory and thinking skills in medulloblastoma survivors.
NEUFEED tests a type of brain training that allows researchers to study brain function while people do memory tasks. Researchers hope this training can help improve working memory. Working memory is a type of memory that helps people remember and use information for a short time. For example, it helps a person follow directions with several steps.
Children and young adults in the study are placed into 1 of 2 groups by chance. One group gets brain training for memory while the other gets a different type of brain training.
Participants have 3 study visits over about 10 days to 3 weeks. They complete memory and thinking tests and answer questions about side effects. During the first 2 visits, they do training while inside an MRI scanner. During the third visit, they do brain training with a cap with sensors that measure brain activity. Parents or caregivers will also answer questions about the participant’s daily thinking and behavior.
Researchers want to learn whether:
- This type of brain training is well tolerated
- People can complete it
- It increases brain activity to improve thinking
- It can help medulloblastoma survivors improve memory and thinking skills
- It should be tested in a larger study
Eligibility overview
- 10–25 years old
- Current or former St. Jude patient treated with craniospinal radiation for medulloblastoma
- Completed medulloblastoma treatment at least 2 years ago
- Has working-memory problems based on a screening questionnaire
