Wagons and Wheelchairs

St. Jude provides wagons and wheelchairs for patient use.

Using a wagon or wheelchair can help your child move safely around St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital if they have trouble walking on their own or get tired. Using a wagon or wheelchair may also prevent falls that could cause harm. Many families bring their own wagon or wheelchair to St. Jude. But we also provide ones for your use.

We need your help to keep our wagons and wheelchairs safe for your child and other patients.

Guidelines for using St. Jude wagons and wheelchairs

If you use a wagon or wheelchair that is not clean, your child could be exposed to germs that could make them sick. To prevent illness, our staff cleans St. Jude wagons and wheelchairs after patients use them. We ask that you:

  • Clean wagons and wheelchairs that are parked in the lobby of the Patient Care Center and the shuttle pickup and drop-off entrance. Each one has a white piece of tape across it that reads “ready to roll.”

  • Only use clean wagons and wheelchairs for your child. Do not re-use one used by another patient until it has been cleaned.

  • If you do not see a clean wagon or wheelchair, the Best Upon Request (BEST) concierge service or a Guest Services representative can help.

  • When you no longer need your wagon or wheelchair, please return it to the nearest patient entry door.

  • We recommend that you periodically clean your wagon or wheelchair. Please keep it with your family to prevent the spread of germs.

  • Do not take St. Jude wagons or wheelchairs to St. Jude housing facilities.

  • St. Jude wagons and wheelchairs do not fold, so they can not be taken on shuttles or put into private vehicles.

  • If your child needs a wheelchair in housing, speak to your child’s care team.

  • Because of ongoing construction, please do not walk across campus to and from Tri Delta Place or The Domino’s Village.
