SJLIFE: Establishment of a Lifetime Cohort of Adults Surviving Childhood Cancer

Eligibility Overview:

This is a non-therapeutic clinical trial that is only open to St. Jude patients.

  • Participant was diagnosed with a childhood cancer which was treated or followed by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
  • Participant completed treatment for disease at least ten years prior to entry in this study
  • Participant is willing to return to St. Jude for periodic evaluation

Description

The purpose of the study is to learn about the health of adult survivors of childhood cancer and to reduce the late-effects of childhood cancer treatments.The information gathered will be used to make recommendations for the treatment and follow-up of future adults who are treated for cancer and similar illnesses during childhood and to guide the development of health promoting interventions.

Participants in this research study received treatment for a childhood cancer or similar illness at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The participant will need to be seen in the clinic at St. Jude over a period of 2-3 days.

Objectives

  • To establish a lifetime group of childhood cancer survivors treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
  • To assist in the evaluation of health outcomes in aging adults surviving pediatric cancer
  • To comprehensively evaluate cardiopulmonary health among adults treated for cancer during childhood

Eligibility

Only current St. Jude patients are eligible.

  • Participant was diagnosed with a childhood cancer which was treated or followed by St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
  • Participant completed treatment for disease at least ten years prior to entry in this study
  • Participant is willing to return to St. Jude for periodic evaluation
  • Participant speaks English
  • Patient is at least 18 years of age
  • Patient is willing to participate at any level of study
  • Patient is willing to comply with the guidelines of St. Jude domiciliary care facilities
