Days of Remembrance Event Information

A time to honor and remember your child, reflect on your journey, and connect with other bereaved families.

Day of Remembrance 2024

Days of Remembrance (DOR) is a 2-day event at St. Jude for families to honor and remember their children who have died. This will be a time to reflect on your journey, reunite with the St. Jude community, and connect with other families who understand what you are going through.

This year’s event will take place at St. Jude in Memphis, Tennessee, on Friday and Saturday, February 27–28, 2026.

Attendance at Days of Remembrance is by invitation only. Families whose children died more than 6 months ago but less than 4 years ago are invited to attend.

A small travel stipend is available for those invited to help offset costs.

What to expect

Days of Remembrance is filled with activities for bereaved families. The event will include:

  • Group support and discussions
  • Memory-making activities, including creating a memory board to honor your child’s life and legacy.
  • A family panel led by bereaved parent advisers
  • A reflection room for meditation or prayer
  • A visit from our St. Jude facility dogs
  • A closing session to honor all the children we are remembering. This Service of Remembrance will include special readings, time for reflection, and a photo slideshow of the children.

Memory board setup

When you arrive at Days of Remembrance, your family can create a memory board to honor your child. This is a large bulletin board you can decorate with photos and keepsakes. Many families make a collage of photos and personal items to celebrate their child’s life.

We will provide:

  • A large bulletin board (about 4 feet wide by 6 feet tall)
  • Tape, tacks, and some decorations

You might want to bring:

  • Photos of your child
  • Things that were special to your child that you would want to display on the board. In the past, some families have brought things like their child’s athletic jersey or other clothing, favorite toys or stuffed animals, or a special blanket.
  • Decorative items that remind you of your child, like colorful paper or stickers

Memory boards will be set up and numbered before you arrive. At check-in you will be given your child’s board number. Board numbers are assigned to make locating any board easier for staff or other families attending Days of Remembrance. A list of all assigned board numbers will be at the memory board table.

Please remove all items from your board by Saturday at 3 p.m.

Memory boards are not mandatory. Families who do not wish to make a memory board can take part in other memory-making activities.
