Rehabilitation Services

Rehabilitation Services staff at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital help your child be as independent as possible.

Rehabilitation Services at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital help you and your child cope with the effects of illness and treatment. We help your child do everyday activities, including play, so they can be as independent as possible. Improving in those areas boosts their confidence during and after treatment.

Most children work with rehabilitation services staff while at St. Jude. The timing and number of sessions depends on a child’s diagnosis and needs. Our team works with infants, children, teens, and young adults.

Services we provide

Our team offers the following services to care for issues caused by your child’s illness or treatment:

Your Rehabilitation Services team

Our team of therapists and other health care providers will evaluate your child and develop a treatment plan. We teach patients of every age and their families how to cope with the challenges they face.

What to expect in Rehabilitation Services

We evaluate most, but not all St. Jude patients, for rehabilitation services. Our team uses what we learn and the diagnosis to make a plan to meet your child’s needs.

Play is often used to assess and treat children, because they like to do it, and it is natural for them. We also teach caregivers how to continue therapy outside the hospital. Such ongoing efforts support a child’s recovery and independence.
