Exercises for children during treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Loading

These exercises were designed to improve ankle flexibility, ankle strength, overall strength, balance and general mobility among children 5 to 10 years of age with acute lymphoblastic leukemia during the maintenance or continuation phase of chemotherapy. There are five groups of exercise that progress from easy to hard. After receiving permission from their treating oncologist, children should start with the first, or easiest, exercise in each group, working their way up to 10 repetitions. Once a child is able to do 10 repetitions of an exercise easily, they should move on to the next exercise in that group.
