The Communication Operations intern will gain relevant experience in understanding and resourcing communication efforts, assessing demand for services, and monitoring project progress in an academic medical center. During the internship, the selected student will assist in managing projects from conception to delivery, identify areas for process improvement, coordinate timely delivery of communication campaigns and initiatives, and develop mitigation plans. The intern will have exposure to a variety of internal groups including clinical, research and other administrative areas.

    • Working toward an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in media, communications, journalism, digital media, marketing, public relations, English or similar field with a 3.0 GPA or above. Candidates must be entering sophomore, junior or senior year to be considered.
    • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams and Excel
    • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Able to manage priorities and work autonomously as appropriate
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
    • Ability to influence and engage a wide range of workgroups
    • Maintains confidentiality
    • Operationalizing integrated communication project plans
    • Assisting with development of workflows that streamline efficiency and effectiveness
    • Understanding and improving intake processes to allocate resources
    • Researching best practices, understanding audiences and developing ideas
    • Identifying service gaps within existing projects
    • Attending cross-functional meetings to better understand departmental and institutional goals
    • Brainstorming, participating in decision-making, researching, and presenting project information to various teams
    • Perform other duties as needed
